The world’s largest digital camera is ready to investigate the dark universe

The Legacy Survey of Space and Time, LSST, is a ten year initiative of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory that will monitor the skies of the entire Southern Hemisphere. But what for? The plan is to make the most informative map of the sky in the history of the universe. Well, our part of the universe, a much more advanced civilization has propably already done this.
A decade long project of this nature would require a BIG A$$ CAMERA. Luckily, according to Space.com – The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is on hand to provide just that. Scientists and engineers at SLAC have officially completed the LSST camera, the largest digital camera ever built, for Rubin’s pioneering 10-year survey.
