JWST has just observed the most distant galaxy ever

Since its launch three years ago the JWST James Webb Space Telescope has sent back thousands of incredible images.

Its latest one is truly humbling and may redefine our view of the universe.

This is the most distant fully formed spiral galaxy ever observed. It’s called Zhúlóng which means Torch Dragon and it was formed just 1.13 billion years after the Big Bang. What makes it so intriguing is that it has all the characteristics of a modern spiral galaxy BUT it was formed 12 billion years ago, which was just after the Cosmic Dark Ages.
